The Millar Family Our Heritage, Our History

The Millar Family originates from areas in England, Scotland and Ireland. The first people to use the name Millar were a family who live in the Scottish/English Borderlands.

In 13^th Century Britain after the death by poisoning of a prominent Courtier, King Alexander III held an inquest and established that the King's miller had an important position of trust. The food or drink of important people, especially Royalty was to only be entrusted to those who were truly loyal. The King's miller, his baker and his brewer were trusted Courtiers and often gifted with extensive lands to ensure their loyalty.
