Castle Glen Brewery

Making Beer the Old Fashioned Way

Where has all the real beer gone?

Does anyone make beer with the old traditional methods?

We are very proud to announce that Castle Glen Brewery, the First Granite Belt Brewery is now making 'Real Beer', the old fashioned way. We are making beer with the old traditional method of cold fermentation. It takes longer to produce delightful, smooth tasting beers without ageing solutions or additives.

At Castle Glen we have realized there is a great need for a 'Real Beer' alternative. Many of our customers have asked us over the years if we are going to make beer in the same way we make wines, sparkling wines, ports and liqueurs, without all the nasty chemicals, preservatives and additives.

We make our beer with raw natural ingredients like malt, sugar, hops, barley and rye. Fermented once and then allowed to do a secondary fermentation to create natural bubbles. Our beer isn't made from pre-prepared powders or solutions. Castle Glen Beer is like the beer of old, real beer made from real ingredients.

Castle Glen has been making Chardonnay Beer and Bottle Fermented Ginger Beer for the past 5 years. Always popular, they have provided an alternative to wine for those who prefer to drink something different. Afternoon bus tours visiting the local wineries are tired of tasting wine at the end of a busy day. They welcome the taste of something different, they enjoy our Stanthorpe Beer, all natural Beer.

Lots of people are enjoying Castle Glen Beers even if you are not a beer drinker, or a lady who really doesn't like the taste of beer. The smooth taste of Castle Glen Beer is appealing to many. Our Stanthorpe Brewery is not producing beer like many of the micro-breweries around and because we don't boil the brew to death, the taste of our beer is not bitter. Smooth and refreshing, you can drink as much as you like and you won't get a hangover from chemicals or preservatives.

Chemical Free Beer, Preservative Free Beer

We live in a world full of products loaded with chemicals. As the level of chemicals in our bodies grows, so does our intolerance to these chemicals. There is an ever increasing need, a greater demand for traditional beers without chemicals, preservatives and additives. Castle Glen decided to try and fill the need for a natural alternative, making real beer by traditional methods. Castle Glen Beer, preservative free beer, with no added chemicals.

At the beginning of this year Castle Glen applied for a Producer/Wholesaler Licence to be able to make and sell greater quantities of beer. So great is the demand for natural, preservative free, chemical free beer, the small quantities we have been making previously sold out very quickly. We were granted our new licence in June 2009. This is the same licence as the 'Big Boys' in beer, such as XXXX and Carlton United. We can now make unlimited quantities of beer, retail and wholesale. Castle Glen Brewery is now open for business.

A Real Natural Alternative

If you would like a real, natural alternative to commercially produced beer, come and try Castle Glen Brewery's new all natural beers. You could try a Lager, Pilsener or Wheat Beer. Or perhaps something different like Chocolate Beer, Chardonnay Beer, Rice Beer or our very popular Ginger Brew or Bottle Fermented Ginger Sparkling. Millar Family Crest The Millar Family Our Heritage, Our History

The Millar Family originates from areas in England, Scotland and Ireland. The first people to use the name Millar were a family who live in the Scottish/English Borderlands.

In 13th Century Britain after the death by poisoning of a prominent Courtier, King Alexander III held an inquest and established that the King's miller had an important position of trust. The food or drink of important people, especially Royalty was to only be entrusted to those who were truly loyal. The King's miller, his baker and his brewer were trusted Courtiers and often gifted with extensive lands to ensure their loyalty.

Testimonial

I have cooked the white chocolate creme mud cake. I have also cooked variations like Jaffa, and Butterscotch and am totally amazed at the taste. They are delicious. I have never really liked the taste of any alcoholic drinks until I found these liqueurs, they are awesome and I won't be mucking around with any others. The fact that they don't contain any of the preservatives which are linked with asthma and other health issues is very important to me.
